Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a Teaching Assistant in Cortlandt Manor, NY to assist the classroom teacher with daily routines and supervision.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma and is eligible for New York State Level One TA Certification, with a plan to advance to Level Three over time. Experience with developmentally disabled children is a plus, and strong computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; pursue Teaching Assistant Certification as soon as possible.
• Candidate should be eligible for NY Level One TA Certificate and maintain certification with PD every five years.
• Experience with developmentally disabled children is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct assistance to the classroom teacher in daily routines.
• Supervise classroom groups when the teacher is absent and follow lesson plans.
• Assist with toileting procedures, playground programs, lunch, and arrival/departure of students.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies and incidents as they arise.
• Collaborate with the teacher to support individual goals and group activities.

It is expected that candidate will pursue Teaching Assistant Certification as soon as possible if the candidate does not hold such certificate and will show evidence of this upon request. The candidate will be expected to achieve Level Three (3) Teaching Assistant Certification, which must be maintained with Professional Development every five (5) years through New York State Education Department.ExperiencePrior experience with developmentally disabled children in an educational or recreational setting is preferred but not required.
