Job summary

Child Care Resource Center, Inc. seeks a Teacher Assistant to support early childhood education efforts at an on-site center.

The role focuses on interactions with children and families, assisting staff, and performing essential administrative tasks to keep programs running smoothly. The ideal candidate will meet the education requirements, hold a Teacher Assistant Permit, and have CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, including 3 semester units of Infant & Toddler Development.
• Must have current Teacher Assistant Permit or equivalent per California CTC matrix.
• Must hold a valid First Aid and CPR certificate on hire or within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Interact with Children and Families (80% of time) to support learning and safety.
• Foster positive Staff Relationships and collaborate with team (10%).
• Handle Administrative Functions including documentation, schedules and reports (10%).

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assure general maintenance and security of facility and assist with inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Active engagement in parent meetings; including participation, oral presentations, planning, and set up of materials.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

Minimum Required Education: 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, including 3 semester units of Infant & Toddler Development. Internal CCRC applicants may alternatively meet this requirement by the successful completion of the Teacher Aide Apprenticeship program.

Professional/ Technical Certifications: Must have a current Teacher Assistant Permit or above based on the California Teacher Credential (CTC) Matrix. Individuals who do not yet hold a current permit and are pending receipt of the permit may be considered for hire if they provide documentation confirming the permit application has been officially submitted and is pending review through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). Documentation must show a submitted application status; payment receipts or preliminary steps alone (e.g., Certificate of Clearance or fingerprint submission) do not meet this requirement. Those pending receipt of the permit must receive it within 3 months, 90 days, of hire. Must hold a valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate upon hire or within 30 days of hire.

Technical Requirements: Must have intermediate technology skills specifically using Zoom, Outlook, and Microsoft Suites, PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn additional platforms related to the program. Basic knowledge of standard teaching practices, effective instructional strategies, Community Care Licensing and all other applicable regulations.

Behavioral: Ability to maintain all assigned workflow and a high level of customer satisfaction in a fast-paced working environment. Ability to supervise children and ensure a safe environment including the ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom, outdoor play areas and on field trips. Provide effective communication and customer service, working professionally with adults and children, demonstrating appropriate conduct with families. Work Schedule

The Teacher Assistant works full time 40 hours a week. Overtime may be expected. The Teacher Assistant may work a non-traditional work schedule including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends. Hours may vary depending on the needs of the program.

Work Environment

This position works in an Early Care and Learning Center. The Early Care and Learning Center includes Early Learning classrooms for children ages Birth to 5 years old, outside playgrounds and play structures, and may include regular office space and/or storage areas at larger centers. School year center assignments can vary depending on business needs.

Child Care Resource Center (CCRC) assists close to 50,000 parents, children, and child care providers each month in Northern Los Angeles County and the entirety of San Bernardino County serving a total area of 22,500 square miles.

Since 1976, CCRC has been managing programs to assist with issues such as finding and selecting child care, child care financial assistance, school readiness, home visiting, and research and program evaluation. Children and families benefit from these programs, allowing parents to go to work and attend school, contribute to the economy and strengthen their families and the community.

CCRC's early care & education specialists offer parents and child care professionals assistance ranging from finding child care and child development ages & stages to marketing child care businesses and CPR training and certification.

CCRC operates and oversees Head Start Birth-5 programs for a total of 3,312 children. These programs promote school readiness and family engagement to ensure a healthy development of children and their families. Children benefit from a high quality preschool education as well as medical and dental exams.

Through CCRC’s literacy campaign “What a Difference a Book Makes,” we have collected 800,000 age-appropriate books. It is the agency’s belief that the cognitive benefits of literacy are immeasurable and have a large impact on the ability of an economy to generate and sustain wealth.
