Job summary

Children’s Friend is hiring a Teacher Assistant to support preschool classrooms in Providence, RI. This full-time role runs Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:30 pm, with compensation ranging from $16.00 to $17.00 per hour.

You will assist teachers, engage children, monitor health, and help create an inclusive learning environment. The position requires 1–3 years of experience with children or at-risk families, basic computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CDA credential required.
• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and email

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum
• Support children’s learning and development through active engagement and guidance
• Conduct daily health observations and maintain accurate child progress documentation
• Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children and families
• Attend parent-teacher conferences and home visits, supporting family engagement
• Participate in professional development, team meetings, and coaching sessions
• Support integration of services across home, classroom, and community settings
