MAHUBE-OTWA is hiring caring individuals for our Early Head Start and Head Start Centers in Detroit Lakes, MN as a Teacher Assistant. Your workdays will be filled with education, laughter, art, stories, hugs and so much more. Go home each day having had fun at work and feeling like you made a difference!

Eligible applicants will have a passion for educating young minds and be available for full-time work. This full-time, non-exempt role offers a daytime schedule and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma (or GED) with a technical certificate; CDA preferred.
• 1–3 years experience with low-income families or young children.
• Willing to attain CDA.
• Willing to earn a CDL.
• Knowledge of early childhood development.
• Ability to read, write and follow simple instructions.
• Positive, cooperative approach with children, staff and parents.
• Ability to handle confidential information.

Pay: $22.35 - $23.10

Schedule: Non-Exempt, Day Shift, Full Time, Monday - Friday working 40 hrs/week, Seasonal with summer layoff or four one-week layoffs spread over the program year

Requirements Qualifications include but are not limited to:

• HS Diploma (or GED) plus Technical/Vocational certificate. CDA and 1 to 3 years working with low-income families and/or young children preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Must be willing to attain CDA.
• Must be willing to earn a CDL.
• Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices for the classroom is essential.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to apply common sense solutions in standardized situations.
• Must have the ability to work in a positive and cooperative manner children, staff and parents.
• Must effectively and professionally deal with typical and unexpected classroom situations.
• Must honor private/confidential information.
