Job summary

Oregon Head Start Association seeks an assistant to support teachers and home visitors in delivering a safe, nurturing classroom experience for all children in our program.

Responsibilities include assisting with lesson plans, classroom setup and cleanup, field trips, meals, and parental involvement while ensuring positive interactions and developmentally appropriate practices. CDA preferred and relevant experience valued.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CDA credential preferred.
• Two years of paid experience, or a combination of related experience and training.

• Use positive interactions with children including verbal and body language.
• Use developmentally appropriate practices.
• Work to ensure good self-concept in all children.
• Help parents integrate into classroom.
• Model behavior management skills.
• Follow bilingual guidance from staff notebook.
• Assist with data entry as appropriate.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Pediatric First Aid/CPR Certification within 30 days of hire and update it as required.
• Oregon Food Handler’s card or ServSafe® Food Safety Certification within 30 days of hire and update it as required.
• Must be enrolled in the Oregon Department of Education-Child Care Division Central Background Registry at time of hire and update it as required.
• Health Appraisal within 30 days of hire and update it as required.
