Job summary

Champaign County Regional Planning Commission seeks Teacher Aides in Champaign, IL. This full-time, school-year position runs 37.5 hours per week from 8:00 a.m.

to 4:00 p.m., with starting pay ranging from $18.55 to $20.23 per hour depending on CDA status. The Teacher Aide supports classroom teachers by delivering a developmentally appropriate program, fosters communication with Head Start families, and helps meet the needs of diverse children.

Qualifications

• Must provide proof of a high school diploma or GED.
• Proof of CDA credential or degree in early childhood education/development preferred.
• If CDA not held, begin process within 3 months of hire and obtain CDA within 9–12 months or be enrolled in a program toward an associate or bachelor's degree with steady progress.
• Experience in an early childhood setting preferred.
• Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
• Demonstrated dependability and exemplary attendance.
• Must meet all Illinois Department of Children and Family Services requirements.
• Ability to lift children up to 60 pounds in an emergency.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Submit at least three professional reference letters with your application.

Champaign County Regional Planning Commission is seeking Teacher Aides to join our team. The Teacher Aide assists the classroom teacher(s) with providing a developmentally appropriate educational program to meet the individual needs of each child, and promote good communication between the Head Start program, parents, and the community.

Requirements

• Must provide proof of a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED)
• Proof of Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or degree in early childhood education/development is preferred
• Unless already possessing a CDA or degree, within three months of hire, the new employee must begin the process to obtain a CDA credential within 9 to 12 months of employment start date or be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree program and making reasonable progress each semester
• Experience working in an early childhood setting preferred
• Experience working with diverse populations preferred
• Demonstrated dependability and exemplary attendance
• Must meet all requirements of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services
• Ability to lift children up to 60 pounds in an emergency
