Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State and the second largest in the nation. It includes eight primary care sites, 40 school‑based health centers, dental clinics, day care centers, a national dental residency program, a statewide behavioral health program, 12 community medicine sites, HIV services, chemical dependency programs, and a family support center.
Position Summary
Teacher Aide – 9:00 am to 1:00 pm – Warren Street.
Job responsibilities
- Readily accepts and responds to supervisory inputs accordingly
- Inspects children for signs of illness or injury upon arrival
- Inspects indoor and outdoor play areas prior to play
- Follows hand-washing procedures and When to Wash Hand policies
- Follows diaper-changing/potty procedures as needed
- Uses Germ Box effectively
- Uses bleach solutions to clean toys and surfaces as required
- Notifies parents and director when children are sick or get hurt
- Files incident or accident reports as needed
- Inspects fire exits and extinguishers regularly
- Feeds children according to their individual needs, family input, and CACFP guidelines
- Puts infants to sleep according to their schedules; ensures SIDS prevention
- Maintains good grooming and appropriate attire
- Arrives on time and reliable in attendance
- Remains responsible and alert in health and safety matters
- Follows center’s philosophy and policies, and is open to new ideas
- Is flexible with assignments and schedule, and comes to work with a positive attitude
- Looks for ways to improve the program and gives ample notice for absences
- Remains calm in tense situations and quickly deals with unexpected situations and problems
- Ensures all required paperwork is completed on time
- Keeps information about children and families confidential
- Attends and actively participates in staff meetings
- Always attends to children’s needs before everything else
- Supervises children closely and effectively throughout the day
- Uses a modulated, appropriate voice and shows respect for individuals
- Shows awareness of developmental levels and changes
- Encourages independence and self‑help; promotes self‑esteem in communication
- Can work with children who are acting out while avoiding stereotyping and labeling
- Reinforces positive behavior and applies a clear, fair discipline procedure
- Sets appropriate limits and helps develop language by responding to sounds and words
- Produces written documentation and referrals when needed without speaking about the child in front of parents
- Greets parents and children positively upon entry, is approachable, and maintains confidentiality
- Builds positive parent relationships, encourages participation, and holds parent conferences on schedule
- Creates an inviting learning environment; turns in lesson plans and observations timely
- Develops lesson plans that support all areas of development and reflect children’s interests
- Provides developmentally appropriate, child‑directed activities and suitable materials
- Anticipates problems, redirects, and responds flexibly to child interests
- Prepares for day’s activities, follows the daily schedule, and provides outdoor playtime twice a day when weather permits
- Handles transitions, is friendly and respectful with others, and shares ideas and materials
- Communicates directly, avoids gossip, and accepts constructive criticism with a learning attitude
- Willingly helps others and steps outside normal job perimeters when necessary
- Seeks help when needed and communicates directly with the supervisor
- Implements suggestions to improve the program
Minimum qualifications
- High School diploma
- Warm, caring, and outgoing personality
- Ability to work well with others
- Capability to create and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

The salary range for the role is $36,153 to $36,153 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
