Purpose of Position/Summary:
Provides rigorous differentiated instruction based on the Indiana state standards in licensed content areas.
Role Expectations (How we measure success):
- Gives timely academic feedback to students in the form of written/verbal comments and grades
- Uses formative, summative, and standardized assessments to inform instruction
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date grade and attendance records for students
- Builds a classroom culture that fosters belongingness and safety for students
- Communicates consistently with parents/guardians
- Collaborates with colleagues, administrators and support staff regarding student needs
- Adequately prepares for absences by leaving clear lesson plans and explanation of expectations for guest teachers
- Consistently applies classroom management and discipline policies in the classroom and throughout the building
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides data-informed lesson plans and instruction using Indiana state standards as the guide
- Builds effective relationships with teachers, students and staff
- Engages in school positive behavior incentive system (PBIS), discipline matrix, and restorative practices
- Is involved in school community through participation in clubs, sports, tutoring, and other activities
- Strives to work and live by The Irvington Way
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education required
- Valid Indiana teaching license required
- Strong technology skills, competent in the use of Google applications
- Flexibility to adjust teaching methods and strategies to fit student needs
- Willingness to comply with ICSPolicies and procedures
