Job summary

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, Marion Correctional Institution, in Marion, Ohio, is seeking a vocational education instructor for barbering with full-time status. Qualifications

  • Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech - barbering & grade level as assigned*; current Ohio Barber certificate pursuant to Section 4709.19 (B) of Revised Code; Teacher 1, 71351, must also have baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement; NOTE: Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction and supervision of students in a regularly scheduled vocational program.
  • Conducts classroom sessions and on the job training assistance.
  • Plans and outlines necessary class objective.
  • Makes lesson plans.
  • Prepares and administers tests within the framework of the program.
  • Develops special methods of instruction for the vocational program in assigned teaching areas.
  • Gives individual instruction and encouragement to the trainee as needed.
  • Maintains records of vocational students on attendance, achievement, attitude and conduct.
  • May order supplies.
  • Issue and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies used in vocational program.
  • Work with other departments in the Institution as part of total team approach to the rehabilitation effort.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
