Job summary

Community-Action-Partnership-of-Cambria-Count is seeking an Early Childhood Education professional with a PA PDE ECE certification to lead and support safe, developmentally appropriate care. You will monitor children, implement the Creative Curriculum, and engage families through home visits and conferences.

The role requires a degree in ECE, a PA driver’s license, and a background check. Candidates will join a center-focused team with a commitment to child safety and learning outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education with Pennsylvania PDE ECE Instructional I or II Teaching Certification.
• Dual Certification in Early Childhood Education and Special Education is preferred for HSSAP.
• Current PA Driver's License and reliable transportation.
• Free of Child Abuse/Neglect history as verified by proper authorities prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Chaperones children and ensures no one is left unattended in all settings.
• Substitute bus aide and conduct safety checks for personal items on the bus.
• Establishes an active learning environment and implements the Creative Curriculum daily routine.
• Uses Teaching Strategies Gold Online as an assessment tool and enters data three times per program year.
• Maintains a positive learning environment and models positive adult-child interactions.
• Observes and assesses children and develops lesson plans per timelines.
• Establishes home and center communications and invites parent participation.
• Performs home visits and participates in parent-teacher conferences.
• Practices daily health routines and follows emergency procedures.
• Records and updates required documentation, including screenings within 45 days.
• Assists with harnessing children on the bus and ensures active participation on trips.

Job description

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures all children are appropriately chaperoned and never left unattended in all situations such as facility, transportation, playground, or community outing.
• When substituting for an Aide on the bus, ensures all children have evacuated the bus, and checks for personal items left on the bus.
• Establishes and implements an appropriate active learning environment.
• Creates a daily routine consistent with Creative Curriculum.
• Uses Teaching Strategies Gold On-line as assessment tool and enters data to the system three times per program year. *
• Maintains a positive learning environment, models positive behavior, and engages in positive adult-child interactions.
• Observes and assesses children, developing and implementing appropriate lesson plans pursuant to required timelines, using the Individual Program Room Self-Assessment Plan for developing strategies to enhance outcomes. *
• Institutes home and center communications by encouraging parent participation.
• Conducts periodic home visits and participates in parent teacher conferences. *
• Practices daily health routines including potty training, hand washing, etc., follows emergency procedures if needed.
• Records and updates all associated records, including the screenings which must be completed within the first 45 days of service. *
• Assists with fastening children in to harnesses on bus and attaching name tags. Rides the bus as required and ensures active participation by the children while on the bus.
• Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
• Eats with children sharing the same menu while demonstrating socially acceptable behaviors and manners.

* Not applicable to day-to-day substitutes.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides assistance as needed at the center.
• Follows the program procedures relating to confidentiality.
• Attends evening meetings and participates in job related training as required.
• Performs overnight travel as required.
• Mandated Child Abuse/Neglect reporter
• Must pass initial and tri-annual physical exam and TB screening.

• Working knowledge of computers, including MS Word, Excel, and other related programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education with a Pennsylvania Department of Education ECE Instructional I or II Teaching Certification (Required)
• PA Department of Education Dual Certification in Early Childhood Education and Special Education (PREFERRED for HSSAP ONLY)
• Current PA Driver's License and reliable transportation. (Required)
