The Teacher works alongside the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, structured, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Teachers actively participate in all aspects of child care, supervision, classroom routines, curriculum, cleaning, and child engagement.

Teachers must be able to follow the direction of the Lead Teacher and Administration while also working independently, taking initiative, and recognizing routine classroom needs without constant direction. Teachers must also be capable of assuming responsibility for the classroom when the Lead Teacher is absent or unavailable.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain active supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Build positive, caring, and appropriate relationships with children.
  • Remain actively engaged with children throughout the day.
  • Follow and consistently reinforce established classroom routines, expectations, and boundaries.
  • Support children's social-emotional, developmental, and educational needs.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher with classroom organization, routines, activities, and daily responsibilities.
  • Help prepare and carry out lesson plans, curriculum, art, sensory, group, and learning activities.
  • Take appropriate initiative and complete routine classroom tasks without continuous direction.
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, potty training, meals, bottles, handwashing, naps, and other caregiving routines as appropriate.
  • Participate in indoor and outdoor play and classroom transitions.
  • Complete routine classroom and bathroom cleaning, sanitizing, and organization.
  • Communicate professionally with families, coworkers, Lead Teachers, and Administration.
  • Follow all program policies, procedures, licensing requirements, and Administration directives.
  • Complete other reasonable classroom or program duties as assigned.
Lead Teacher Coverage

Teachers must be prepared to assume responsibility for the classroom when the Lead Teacher is absent, on break, or otherwise unavailable. During these times, the Teacher is expected to maintain established classroom routines and expectations, carry out planned activities, provide direction to support staff, maintain appropriate supervision, and communicate significant concerns to Administration.

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including frequent sitting on the floor, bending, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting and carrying young children, diapering and toileting, participating in indoor and outdoor activities, cleaning and sanitizing, and responding promptly to children's care and safety needs.

Position Expectations

A successful Teacher is dependable, patient, consistent, attentive, proactive, and team-oriented. Teachers should be able to take direction while also working independently and contributing to the classroom without requiring constant instruction.

The primary focus of this position must always remain on the safety, supervision, care, development, and well-being of the children while supporting the Lead Teacher and maintaining a positive and consistent classroom environment.
