Kennedy Center seeks an experienced teacher to develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum across Head Start, Extended Day, Toddler, Preschool and School-Age Child Care services. You will ensure compliance with licensing and accreditation standards while supporting families and collaborating with leadership.

The role emphasizes creating a safe learning environment, documenting progress, and coordinating with the teaching team and parents.

Qualifications

  • The ability to implement knowledge of child development into daily practices.
  • Follow Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC Accreditation Standards, and EEC regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and families.
  • Submit required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Lead and supervise a teaching team.
  • Use technology for routine electronic communication.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, healthy learning environment.
  • Complete accurate documentation of children’s developmental progress.
  • Plan, create, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Support parents and provide resources and referrals.
  • Provide accurate documentation to Children’s Services management.
  • All other duties as assigned by Education Coordinator and Director of Children’s Services.

Job description

The goal of this position is to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for the Kennedy Center’s highly professional and nurturing Head Start, Extended Day, Toddler, Preschool, and School-Age Child Care services and to ensure compliance with all licensing and accreditation requirements. To be a member of the Children’s Services team and to stay current on regulations, standards, and policies.

Compensation: $22-$26/hr.

Representative Listing of Essential Job Duties:
  • The Teacher will assist the teaching team with maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment.
  • The Teacher will complete accurate documentation of children’s developmental progress.
  • The Teacher will assist in the planning, creating, and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum based on children’s strengths, needs, and interests.
  • The Teacher will support parents and provide resources and make referrals as needed.
  • The Teacher will provide accurate documentation to the Children’s Services management team.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Education Coordinator and Director of Children’s Services.

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • The ability to effectively manage many and at times competing demands.
  • Sensitivity to issues of concern to all families;
  • Understanding of poverty as a complex public policy, social, and economic issue.
Educational Requirements:
  • Associate, Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree in ECE or related field
  • Minimum of Teacher qualification from EEC
Experience Requirements:

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a licensed early childhood education program.
