Job summary

Great Bend Unified School District 428 is seeking a Student Support Services/Teacher Assistant. The position is hourly and hours will be determined, with leave defined in the Classified Employees' Handbook.

Under the direct supervision of the Building Principal and Classroom Teacher, you will assist with lesson preparation, distribute and collect materials, and help maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
• Able to perform simple clerical tasks proficiently.
• Ability to maintain discipline in the school setting.
• Punctual in all assignments.

Responsibilities

• Aid the teacher in preparing the room for class and in distributing and gathering materials.
• Help prepare, distribute, and collect lesson materials.
• Instruct students under the teacher's supervision.
• Keep the classroom neat and orderly.
• Aid the teacher in arranging bulletin boards.
• Supervise the playground under the teacher's supervision.
• Supervise students in lunch area, gym, lavatories, library, and other designated areas as needed.
• Perform duties to meet the safety and personal care of students.
• Observe district policies appropriate to the position.
• Assist with performance objectives under a teacher's supervision.
• Assist with small-group learning activities.
• Assist with student arrival and dismissal procedures.
• Perform relevant duties as assigned by the teacher and building principal.
• Exhibit total confidentiality in matters relating to students.
