Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree and one year of relevant experience in corrections or related field.
  • Substitution of experience for education: full-time relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to two years.
  • Substitution of education for experience: one year of relevant graduate coursework may substitute for the one year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional case management activities in correctional facilities with independence and accountability for assigned caseloads.
  • Review offender case information and documentation to support case actions, supervision requirements, and program participation decisions and ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete required offender assessments, screenings, and case reviews and determine appropriate case management actions within established authority and guidelines.
  • Complete inmate custody assessment form for inmates on assigned caseload.
  • Initiates and schedules the monthly teaming for the inmates on assigned caseload.
  • Develop, implement, and update offender case plans and related documentation to support supervision, rehabilitation, and transition objectives and monitors progress toward goals.
  • Coordinate services, referrals, and resources to support offender needs and reentry preparation through collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Monitors offender status, behavior, and compliance indicators and initiate corrective actions, referrals, or recommendations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Communicate with offenders and appropriate stakeholders to resolve case-related issues and documents significant contacts, decisions, and actions.
  • Participate in training, committees, and assigned initiatives and may provide informal guidance to less experienced staff to support effective case management operations.
  • Conduct PREA screenings.
  • Understand and communicate sentence credits, behavior credits, program credits and pre-trial credits.
  • Assist in the reentry process by ensuring that all reentry documentation has been received prior to release (SS card, birth certificate, and/or Identification).
  • Build, maintain, and audit inmate files.

LOCATION OF (10) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION, BLEDSOE COUNTY

A Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted prior to employment. This position requires a pre-employment drug screen.

This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree and one year of relevant experience in corrections, community supervision, case management, rehabilitation services, or related field.

Substitution of Experience for Education: Full-time relevant experience in corrections, community supervision, case management, rehabilitation services, or related field may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis, up to a maximum of two years.

Substitution of Education for Experience: One year of relevant graduate coursework in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or behavioral science may be substituted for the one year of relevant experience.

OR

One year as a TDOC Case Manager 1* with the State of Tennessee Department of Correction.

Necessary Special Qualifications:

A valid vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.

Overview

Under general supervision, an employee within this class performs professional case management work of average difficulty. Independently provides case management services to offenders in correctional facilities by completing required case management functions, coordinating services, monitoring compliance, maintaining records, and supporting supervision and rehabilitative objectives in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures. This class differs from TDOC Case Manager 1* in that incumbents perform work with greater independence and responsibility.
