Job summary

The Iowa Department of Revenue, Alcohol & Tax Operations Division, is seeking a Revenue Service Specialist 3 to join the Taxpayer Services team in Des Moines. The role supports taxpayers by providing expert tax guidance across multiple tax types and coordinating communications across channels.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Three years of full-time work in tax, accounting, or related areas, or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience in tax procedures and/or technical information is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist taxpayers with general to complex tax questions across multiple tax types by phone, in person, or other channels.
• Handle escalated Taxpayer Service inquiries with informed judgment.
• Mentor and train other employees.
• Assist supervisor by guiding staff, distributing workload, and reviewing work.
• Participate in projects drafting or reviewing tax forms and Department publications.
• Work 100% in-office at the Hoover Building in Des Moines.
