Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze data and reports related to department operations, including audits and tax digest reconciliation.
  • Assist Tax Digest Reconciliation Manager as the Taxpayer Services Division head’s assistant.
  • Assist with homestead audits and communication with applicants.
  • Coordinate with Tax Commissioners office on behalf of the Taxpayer Services Manager.
  • Monitor homestead audits, assessment cap management, and tax digest reconciliation.
  • Plan and conduct studies; prepare related reports and presentations.
  • Monitor trends and produce activity logs and reports for assigned areas.
  • Assist in administration of homestead application and audit processes.

Job Summary

This is a professional level job where incumbents will conduct audits, studies, and handle special projects. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for making determinations of qualification of Applicants for Homestead, assist in tax digest reconciliation and handling special projects to assist the Tax Digest Reconciliation Manager. Incumbents are expected to analyze information and provide recommendations in reports and presentations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Reviews and analyzes a wide variety of data and reports related to the operations and activities of the department including audits, tax digest and assessment cap reconciliation.

Serves as the assistant to the Tax Digest Reconciliation Manager who is the manager of the Taxpayer Services Division.

Assists with homestead audits, communication with applicants and potential applicants.

Assists the Taxpayer Services Manager with communication with the Tax Commissioners office on behalf of the TSM.

Assists with homestead audits and tax digest reconciliation.

Assists with the monitoring and management of homestead audits, assessment cap management, and tax digest reconciliation.

Plans and conducts studies; prepares related reports.

Monitors, analyzes, and reports on trends.

Prepares, processes, and maintains a variety of activity logs and/or reports related to assigned area of responsibility.

Assist in the administration of homestead application and audit process.

Performs other relevant work as assigned.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:

Associate's degree in public administration or a related field.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above.

Licenses and Certifications:

Must successfully complete Course I, Certification for Assessors.

Valid Class I Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of computer operating systems including but not limited to Excel, Word, outlook, and Power bi .

Ability to make mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Physical Ability:

Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Duties require the ability to use a personal computer and to operate a motor vehicle.

Essential functions occasionally require the ability to bend body downward and forward by bending spine and legs, and twisting at the waist, hips or knees; reach overhead; push or pull; and repetitively use hands/arms/legs. Incumbents in this position are occasionally required to be on-call and work irregular hours.

Sensory Requirements:

Essential functions regularly require the ability to use effective verbal and written communication; and use of hand/eye coordination and fine manipulation to use equipment.

Essential functions of this position continuously require the ability to either work with others or work alone.

Essential functions are regularly performed with occasional exposure to adverse environmental conditions including weather.
