Job summary

CBIZ is seeking a senior professional to supervise accounting, tax or audit engagements for diverse clients in the United States. The role emphasizes understanding client businesses, budgeting, and timely delivery while leading and mentoring engagement teams.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's, a Master’s in Accounting/Taxation, and 3+ years in public accounting with supervisory experience. CPA candidates are preferred, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in public accounting or related field.
• 1 year supervisory experience preferred.
• CPA candidates preferred.
• Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization.
• Proficient use of applicable technology.
• Must be able to travel based on client and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all aspects of accounting, tax or audit engagements for clients and provide updates to engagement managers.
• Develop understanding of clients' business to aid in planning engagements.
• Adhere to budgets and complete tasks on time, explaining variances as needed.
• Review team work and provide constructive feedback.
• Supervise and mentor team members on engagements.
• Assist in client billing with Managers, Directors or MDs.
• Identify specialization areas and develop expertise.
• Participate in practice development activities and referrals.
• Execute administrative duties as assigned.

Essential Functions And Primary Duties

• Supervise all aspects of accounting, tax or audit engagements for clients including status updates to engagement managers and adhere to all quality control standards as required
• Develop a thorough understanding of the client's business, contributing to the analysis and planning of client engagements
• Adhere to engagement budget constraints and complete assigned tasks within the time requested, and explain variances when needed
• Achieve charge hour goals
• Review engagement team members accounting, tax or auditing work: provide constructive review points
• Supervise and guide team members on engagements, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
• Train and mentor engagement team members, supporting their technical and professional development
• Assist in the client billing process with Managers, Directors or Managing Directors
• Identify an industry or area of specialization and develop skills, knowledge and expertise in that area
• Leverage industry knowledge and business acumen blending cross serve opportunities into client engagements
• Participate in practice development activities, such as membership in qualified organizations, capable of referring potential engagements
• Execute administrative duties as assigned
• Additional responsibilities as assigned
