Proven Recruiting in San Diego, CA is seeking a Tax Manager - Lead Client Strategy to own and grow a high-performing tax practice. You will lead complex engagements, mentor staff, and drive client growth with strategic advisory work.

This role focuses on delivering technical excellence and outstanding service to individuals, partnerships, and corporate clients while expanding the firm’s advisory footprint.

Qualifications

• Active CPA with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 6+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience.
• Strong expertise in federal, state, and multi-state tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and high-net-worth clients.
• Skilled in tax research, client relationship management, business development, and modern tax software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review complex tax engagements across federal, state, multi-state, individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, estate, gift, and nonprofit tax returns.
• Provide strategic tax planning, consulting, and technical guidance while conducting complex tax research and preparing memorandums.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, communicate with tax authorities regarding audits, and identify new business opportunities.
• Mentor and develop team members, improve processes, implement best practices, and contribute to firm-wide initiatives.
