Job summary

Thompson Greenspon, a well-established CPA firm in Fairfax, Virginia, is seeking Tax Staff Accountants to join our dynamic team. You’ll deliver high-quality tax services to a diverse client base in a supportive environment with a hybrid schedule requiring three in-office days weekly at our Fairfax office.

As a Tax Staff Accountant, you’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, pursue CPA advancement, and gain exposure to individuals, partnerships, C corporations, nonprofits, and trusts.

Qualifications

• 2 years of public accounting experience in a CPA firm.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• Completion of 150 credit hours OR plans to meet CPA eligibility requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Active PTIN or ability to obtain one prior to the start date.

Responsibilities

• Preparing federal and multistate tax returns for individuals, partnerships, C corporations, S corporations, nonprofits, and trust and estates
• Identifying tax planning opportunities and conducting research to support client needs
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships as a primary point of contact
• Managing multiple client engagements simultaneously and meeting deadlines efficiently
• Collaborating with team members to ensure project status is communicated effectively
• Delivering high-quality work while staying mindful of time budgets
