Job summary

CDH CPA, PLLC, in Itasca, IL, is seeking a Tax Staff Accountant who handles a broad range of tax and accounting tasks under supervision. This role supports corporate, partnership, individual and fiduciary tax returns and contributes to monthly bookkeeping and payroll tax work.

You will prepare amended returns, 1099s, W-2s, and assistance with notices; utilize firm software to transfer data from trial balances to financial statements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field, or MBA.
• Pass the CPA exam.
• Develop excellent oral and written communication skills, while also creating specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
• Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and maintain them over time.

Responsibilities

• Prepares a variety of tax returns, including corporate, partnership, individual tax and fiduciary
• Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, 1099s and W-2s, along with monthly bookkeeping, as needed
• Prepares amended and carryback returns
• Prepares S-election form, form to request accounting changes and form requesting to acquire an employer identification number
• Responds and prepares initial drafts of tax notices and letters
• Researches technical issues using regulatory and source materials utilizing electronic databases
• Ensures tax returns are prepared in accordance with the terms of the various governing documents and applicable federal tax and state law
• Participates in technical discussions and propose solutions relating to client tax matters
• Uses Firm's software to automate the data transfer process from the trial balance to the financial statements and eventually for the preparation of the tax return

Education

Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field, or MBA
