Tax Senior Manager – Financial Services Office – Fiduciary/Trust & Estate Tax Administration Services (“FTEAS”)

FTEAS provides fiduciary and court accounting services for trusts and estates, serving banks, law firms, family offices, and individual and professional trustees across the U.S. The Senior Manager is a key leadership team member responsible for strategic planning and business success. Responsibilities include reviewing complex trust and estate accountings, managing client relationships, business development, staff supervision and development, recruiting, operational efficiency, and profitability management. The role also involves ensuring compliance with EY policies, onboarding clients, and managing new matters, including independence and technology protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical review of complex trust and estate accountings.
  • Leading teams to ensure accuracy and timely deliverables.
  • Managing and nurturing client relationships.
  • Participating in business development activities such as sales calls, client presentations, and industry events.
  • Building relationships with potential clients and attending conferences.
  • Ensuring client satisfaction through timely responses and compliance.
  • Preparing estimates and documentation for new engagements; managing client and engagement codes; vetting matters for independence and compliance.
  • Fostering collaboration with internal teams for cross-selling opportunities.
  • Supporting team communication, knowledge sharing, and decision-making.
  • Developing operational efficiencies for high-quality, timely services.
  • Contributing to a positive, team-oriented work culture and staff development.
  • Completing continuing education courses related to fiduciary accounting and software.
  • Monitoring engagement profitability, staff efficiency, and workload management.
  • Overseeing project billing and follow-up on collections.
Skills & Attributes for Success
  • Decisions involve reviewing accountings, interpreting trust documents, and ensuring compliance with accounting and tax regulations.
  • Providing pricing estimates, tracking proposals, and monitoring engagement profitability.

  • Strong technical skills, client management, staff oversight, business development, and accuracy in engagement delivery are essential.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CPA, EA, licensed Attorney, Professional Fiduciary, or CTFA certification.
  • Excellent communication and technical fiduciary accounting skills.
  • Experience reviewing complex accountings and IRS forms (706, 1041, K-1s).
  • Knowledge of complex investments, trust structures, and estate planning documents.
  • Ability to research state-specific laws and acts.
  • Strong leadership, client interaction, and business development skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, fiduciary trust software, and internal systems.
  • Deep understanding of fiduciary tax law and concepts.
Other Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of fiduciary/court accounting experience at a bank, law firm, or CPA firm, with a proven leadership record.
  • Experience with complex assets, large trusts, estates, and family offices is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary range: $126,600 to $289,000 nationally; $151,900 to $328,400 in NYC, Washington, and California (excluding Sacramento). Salaries are determined by factors such as education, experience, skills, and location.
