Overview
A well-established, highly profitable regional CPA firm is growing its tax practice and seeking experienced tax professionals to fill Senior Manager, Manager, and Supervisor roles. This is an opportunity to take on significant client and technical responsibility while working toward a fast track to Partner.
What you'll do
- Perform technical tax review and approval of tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity
- Serve as a subject matter expert in a discipline or industry
- Assume full responsibility for larger tax returns and delegate work to tax preparers as needed
- Own client service responsibility for assigned clients or clients delegated from a Partner
- Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations; may represent clients before taxing authorities
- Develop staff through recruiting, performance evaluations, training aids, and instruction in professional development programs
- Oversee the smooth flow of tax returns through the preparation system to ensure accurate, complete, and timely delivery
- Ensure accurate and timely billing and collection processes
- Prepare reports and projects as requested by partners
- Research and evaluate tax preparation and tax research software for recommendation to partners
- Participate in firm practice development through referral sources, community, and industry activities
Required qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of current tax laws
- Proficiency in computer tax preparation, tax research, and tax planning software programs
- Availability for occasional overtime throughout the year, with heavy overtime (potentially in excess of 55 hours per week) required from January 1 to April 15
- Seven to ten years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating proven progression in tax complexity, scope, and research
- At least two (2) years' experience representing clients before taxing authorities
- Minimum one (1) year experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- Minimum of forty hours of continuing education required each year
- Current and valid CPA license required
- Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs

- Master's degree in taxation preferred
