About RSM's International Tax Practice

Our International Tax practice consists of professionals nationwide with broad experience in international tax matters. We advise clients on outbound and inbound structure planning, foreign tax credit, global tax planning, transfer pricing analysis, compliance, ASC 740, information reporting and withholding (including FATCA and the Common Reporting Standard (CRS)), foreign assignment planning, and general international business planning.

Position Overview

We are seeking a candidate with strong experience in U.S. backup, nonresident alien, and FATCA reporting and withholding tax matters, as well as experience with CRS (collectively referred to as Global Information Reporting or "GIR"), to join our Washington National Tax Practice, based out of any West Coast location.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and manage GIR-related advisory and compliance projects.
  2. Advise clients on U.S. backup, nonresident alien, FATCA, and CRS reporting and withholding requirements, including complex cross-border transactions and M&A.
  3. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting reporting and withholding, and draft thought leadership on these topics.
  4. Review tax information returns such as IRS Forms 1042, 1042-S, 1099, and FATCA/CRS reports.
  5. Support national teams and develop service offerings related to GIR.
  6. Drive growth and profitability in the GIR practice through revenue generation, client relationships, and business development.
  7. Lead practice development, marketing strategies, and team management, including mentoring staff and conducting performance reviews.
  8. Manage project steps, responsibilities, and timelines for GIR compliance efforts.
  9. Research and draft memorandums, protests, and correspondence on tax reporting issues.
  10. Conduct internal training and client workshops on FATCA, CRS, and related topics.
  11. Build cross-line-of-business relationships to ensure excellent client service.
  12. Travel as required.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; CPA, EA, JD, or MST preferred.
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience in tax information reporting and withholding, preferably in a Big 4 or similar environment.
  3. At least 7 years of experience managing tax professionals.
  4. Strong knowledge of IRC Chapters 3, 4, and 61, with consulting and advising skills.
  5. Proven ability to generate revenue, manage deals, and develop policies and procedures.
  6. Experience with IRS examinations and compliance, including form preparation.
  7. Possession of a portable book of business is preferred.

Compensation Range : $139,100 - $303,100
