Job summary

HiAccounting, a division of The Hawaii Group, is seeking a Tax Senior to lead client service and oversee income tax returns and memos. The role emphasizes mentoring junior staff, managing multiple client projects, and ensuring timely delivery of tax work.

The position reports to the Director of Tax Services and Tax Manager, with location in Hilo, HI. Strong tax knowledge, mid-level experience, and a CPA or EA license are valued assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration (or equivalent business experience).
• Two years of progressively responsible experience in the tax division of public accounting and/or the private sector.
• CPA or EA license desired.
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Experience with tax software such as Ultra Tax, Lacerte, Drake, and similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate income tax returns and research memos with a focus on client service.
• Manage multiple clients and projects, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
• Prepare, review, and sign off on tax returns for simple to moderately complex cases.
• Develop engagement letters and budgets; communicate status to clients.
• Mentor junior staff and conduct training on policies and procedures.
• Travel as required and support ongoing education for licensure.
