Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 7+ years of sales tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax.
• Proven expertise in process improvement, project management, and change management.
• Demonstrated leadership experience including associate development and team management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Access.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Tax SME on strategic initiatives, ensuring tax laws and compliance requirements are addressed.
• Develop and execute project plans, including risk mitigation, communication strategies, and documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to remove obstacles and support day-to-day operations.
• Lead testing efforts, defining test plans, analyzing results, and coordinating remediation of defects.
• Maintain strong relationships with business partners, aligning tax project plans with company objectives.
• Advocate for tax initiatives, gaining buy-in from leadership and stakeholders through clear communication.
• Manage audits effectively, defending CarMax’s tax positions and ensuring full compliance.
