Tax Professional/Supervisor Retail Tax Offices- Kettering (Finance)



We are a family-owned tax office with 5 locations in the Dayton area. We seek kind individuals looking for a fun and pleasant work environment. If interested, please apply!

Minimum Qualifications: Three or more years of experience preparing individual tax returns, including federal, state, school district, and city income taxes. Must be comfortable interviewing clients and completing tax returns with clients present. Valid PTIN issued by the IRS required.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Experience with Schedule C, Schedule D, and Schedule E preparation.
  • Strong business tax preparation experience with extensive knowledge of tax laws, evidenced by 3+ years of recent federal and state business tax return preparation.
  • At least 2 seasons of personal tax preparation experience, with a minimum of 30 tax returns per year in a paid setting.
  • Bookkeeping experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience preparing business tax returns for service industry clients is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Circular 230.
  • Proficiency with technology, including computer operations and software.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally via video and audio tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, research skills, and determination.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Supervisory experience in a tax team, supporting team members.
  • Effective communication with ownership regarding recruiting, interviewing, and hiring seasonal employees.
  • Focus on maximizing customer service and increasing sales.
  • Administrative functions such as developing work schedules, monitoring performance, and reviewing reports.
  • Maintaining organized filing systems for tax returns.
  • Follow-up with clients regarding void/hold tax returns to encourage completion.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Tax preparation is the top priority.
  • Assist with scheduling, budgeting, staffing, productivity, and marketing within assigned areas.
  • Support franchise owner and develop marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Recruit, interview, and train tax preparers, including passing the Tax Preparation Course.
  • Ensure excellent customer service; coach and mentor office managers.
  • Establish and oversee office goals, monitor performance, and ensure quality standards.
  • Review productivity reports and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate filing and follow-up procedures.

Additional duties include:

  • Supporting staff with questions and issues.
  • Finalizing bi-weekly timesheets and approving billable hours.
  • Leading manager meetings and developing local marketing plans.
  • Tracking goals and conducting mandatory training sessions.
  • Monitoring tax return processing and compliance reports.
  • Creating staffing schedules and overseeing office operations.
  • Managing CRM system and staff task assignments.
  • Leading tax research and supporting staff with client inquiries.

Skills for Success:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; related business experience preferred.
  • Studies in management, tax preparation, or accounting are a plus.
  • Previous tax preparation experience with valid PTIN.
  • Management or supervisory experience is desired.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and tax software applications.
