Role Overview

Join Baker Tilly as a Federal Tax Partner in our Denver office. You will serve as a business advisor delivering industry‑focused tax advisory and compliance services to technology, manufacturing, or distribution industries. Working alongside firm leadership and associates, you will build relationships, mentor staff, and drive business growth.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and manage the firm's federal tax compliance and consulting services for technology, manufacturing, or distribution clients.
  • Act as a trusted tax business advisor, leading client relationships on day‑to‑day tax matters across a range of account sizes.
  • Consult on technical matters and special projects in corporate and flow‑through taxation, accounting methods, and ASC 740.
  • Research tax matters, respond to IRS and other authority inquiries, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Coordinate with specialty tax practices on complex tax issues, including state and local, high net worth, international, research and development credits, and incentives.
  • Oversee tax‑planning responsibilities for federal and individual clients, reviewing complex research for business transactions across entities.
  • Offer recommendations for business and process improvements based on client operations and objectives.
  • Manage engagement staffing, billings, collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met.
  • Network and build relationships internally and externally to acquire new clients and projects; participate in RFPs.
  • Collaborate with service line leadership on tax service market positioning, branding, strategy, and messaging.
  • Invest in personal professional development through firm‑wide learning programs.
  • Support the growth of team members and assist with recruiting future staff.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, initiative, teamwork, and ethical standards.
  • Represent the firm at key community events, functions, and meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s or advanced degree desirable.
  • CPA, JD, or Enrolled Agent required.
  • 15+ years of federal tax compliance and consulting experience in a professional services firm, preferably with real estate or related clientele.
  • Proven success in building a book of business.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates.
  • Strong management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management and communication skills.
  • Capability to lead and supervise, deliver exceptional client service, and maintain a commitment to continuous learning and ethical standards.
  • Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationally to clients and other Baker Tilly offices.
