Job Description

Become a Federal Tax Partner in our National Private Equity Tax Practice. In this leadership role you will serve as a trusted advisor to private equity clients, build the business, mentor a team of associates, and directly impact firm success.

Responsibilities
  • Lead client relationships and provide federal tax compliance and consulting services to construction and real estate clients.
  • Consult on technical matters and special projects in corporate and flow‑through taxation, accounting methods, and ASC 740.
  • Research tax issues, respond to IRS and other tax‑authority inquiries, and recommend solutions to clients.
  • Coordinate with specialty tax practices on complex state, local, high‑net‑worth, international, research‑and‑development, credits, and incentives matters.
  • Oversee tax‑planning responsibilities for federal and individual clients, reviewing complex research on business‑transaction tax issues.
  • Recommend business and process improvements based on client operations and objectives.
  • Manage client‑engagement staffing, billings, collections, and ensure profitability targets are met.
  • Build internal and external relationships to acquire new clients, projects, and revenue, and participate in RFPs.
  • Work with service‑line leadership to develop market positioning, branding, strategy, and messaging.
  • Invest in personal and firm‑wide professional development.
  • Support team growth by coaching associates and recruiting future talent.
  • Demonstrate leadership, initiative, strong teamwork, and high ethical standards.
  • Represent the firm at community events and other meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s or advanced degree desirable.
  • CPA or JD required.
  • Fifteen (15+) years’ experience in federal tax compliance and consulting, preferably with real‑estate clients.
  • Proven success building and maintaining a book of business.
  • Five (5+) years of supervisory experience mentoring associates.
  • Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project‑management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise, provide exceptional client service, and stay current on tax strategy.
  • Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and to other Baker Tilly offices.
