Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Tax Preparer to join our accounting and tax team in a hybrid role in Montgomery, OH. You will prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and entities, review documents, identify deductions, and assist with planning while ensuring accuracy and timely filings.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and proficiency with major tax software.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience preparing individual and/or business tax returns.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
• Experience with tax preparation software such as UltraTax, ProSeries, Lacerte, Drake, CCH Axcess, or similar platforms is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, partnerships, S corporations, and other entities.
• Collect, organize, and review client financial documents and tax information.
• Identify potential deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities.
• Review tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable tax laws.
• Research tax issues and assist with resolving tax-related questions.
• Communicate with clients to obtain missing information and clarify financial or tax-related matters.
• Assist with tax planning and projections as needed.
• Respond to notices and correspondence from the IRS and state taxing authorities.
• Maintain organized and accurate client files and documentation.
• Stay current on changes to federal and state tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
• Meet established deadlines during tax season and throughout the year.
• Work collaboratively with accountants, CPAs, and other members of the tax team.
