ABT Accounting in Duluth, GA is seeking an experienced Tax Preparer with strong knowledge of individual income tax preparation and bookkeeping. You will prepare federal and state returns, review client documents for accuracy, and ensure bookkeeping records balance with tax data.

Qualifications

• Prior experience preparing individual tax returns.
• Solid working knowledge of bookkeeping.
• QuickBooks experience strongly preferred.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles.

• Excellent communication and client-service skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual federal and state income tax returns
• Review client tax documents for accuracy and completeness
• Identify missing information and follow up with clients as needed
• Understand and review bookkeeping records, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports
• Assist with bookkeeping cleanup and reconciliation when necessary
• Review QuickBooks records and identify discrepancies
• Work with W-2s, 1099s, Schedule C businesses, rental income, deductions, credits, and other common individual tax matters
• Maintain accurate client files and documentation
• Communicate professionally with clients regarding tax and bookkeeping questions
• Meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality of financial information

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently with tax returns while also understanding the bookkeeping and financial records behind the return.
