Overview

Tax Partner — Pasadena, CA • Direct Hire • Job ID: CA01-2735616

Responsibilities
  • Provide extreme technical competency in taxation with a deep understanding of individual, real estate partnership, corporate, and fiduciary tax areas of practice.
  • Stay familiar with California and multi-state tax rules; utilize Lacerte tax software and BNATax projection software.
  • Review tax returns prepared by staff and occasionally prepare complex returns.
  • Collaborate with entrepreneurs and support other entrepreneurs in their goals; ability to generate and cultivate new business is not required but encouraged.
Job Requirements
  • Multi-tasker with excellent writing skills; strong leadership skills in training and mentoring staff.
  • Ability to interact effectively with existing and potential clients; personable and resourceful; accurate and fast.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills when dealing with clients and colleagues; willingness to evaluate what needs to be done and not limit time to required hours.
  • Current CPA license; preferably a master’s degree in taxation or a law degree.
Benefits and Schedule
  • Medical – 100% premium coverage for employees; dependent coverage available at employee cost.
  • Plans are Kaiser or a PPO with employer HSA contribution of $2,500.
  • Group Life Insurance up to $100,000; Disability insurance at 60% of earnings.
  • Nonmatching 401K with a one year waiting period; employer contribution to firm profit-sharing plan.
  • Nontax season hours: May 1 through December 31, Monday through Thursday, 9 hours/day with Fridays off; 20 days PTO
  • Firm closures: 6 national holidays and the day following the April tax deadline; first day of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur if they fall on a weekday.
  • Continuing education as required; license renewal fees and professional dues paid by the firm.
  • Base salary potential of $200K - $300K, possibly higher.
  • Outside of tax season, Fridays are closed and the team generally maintains a 36-hour work week (nine hours per day, Monday through Thursday) with a three-day weekend.
