Job summary

Robinhood is seeking a Tax Operations professional to lead tax reporting for taxable and retirement accounts, collaborating with product, engineering, and operations to ensure accurate withholding and cost basis for crypto and equities.

You will manage critical exception reports and partner with Customer Experience and Account Operations to resolve tax inquiries, with in-person attendance at least 3 days per week in our Menlo Park, CA and New York, NY offices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional tax operations experience.
  • Experience with retirement tax reporting (IRS Forms 1099-R and 5498).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; proficient in SQL or Databricks.
  • Experience in Financial Services, Fintech, or Crypto; knowledge of Form W-9/W-8BEN preferred.

  • Collaborate with product, project, and engineering teams to launch and scale tax-related initiatives.
  • Lead tax reporting processes for taxable and retirement accounts, handling withholding, cost basis, and crypto transactions.
  • Partner with Customer Experience and Account Operations to resolve complex tax inquiries and withholding issues.
  • Develop and implement reconciliations of data between internal systems and vendors; verify tax information with the IRS.

Robinhood is looking for a skilled Tax Operations professional to join our team! We are seeking motivated professionals who thrive in dynamic environments and can manage multiple priorities. In this role, you will lead tax reporting processes for taxable and retirement accounts, executing critical exception reports covering areas such as withholding, cost basis, and crypto transactions. You will also partner with Customer Experience and Account Operations teams to resolve complex tax-related inquiries and withholding issues.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA and New York, NY offices, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. What you’ll do
  • Collaborate with product, project, and engineering teams to launch, improve, and scale Robinhood products and systems, tracking various tax-related initiatives and new product promotions
  • Lead the tax reporting processes for taxable and retirement accounts, executing critical exception reports covering areas such as withholding, cost basis, and crypto transactions
  • Partner with Customer Experience and Account Operations teams to resolve complex tax inquiries, cost basis issues, and withholding discrepancies
  • Develop and implement reconciliations of data between internal systems and vendors, verifying the accuracy of tax information transmitted to the IRS
What you bring
  • Bring a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, along with 5+ years of professional experience in tax operations
  • Demonstrate experience with retirement tax reporting, specifically with IRS Forms 1099-R and 5498
  • Showcase strong analytical and communication skills, with proficiency in tools like SQL or Databricks to manage, mine, and convert large datasets
  • Manage and drive tax projects to completion in a deadline-driven environment, maintaining high attention to detail
  • Apply prior experience in Financial Services, Fintech, or Crypto, with an understanding of tax onboarding procedures and Forms W-9/W-8BEN preferred

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

Base Pay Range:

Zone 1 (Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC)

$140,000 - $165,000 USD

Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL)

$123,000 - $145,000 USD

Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL)

$110,000 - $129,000 USD
