Career Legal is a growing CPA firm-based practice seeking a Tax Manager to join the team. This role focuses on client advisory work, deep tax research, and leadership across a portfolio of clients, with direct impact on client relationships.

The Tax Manager will review diverse tax returns, mentor staff, and drive profitability while collaborating with clients, attorneys, and financial advisors. A fully remote option is available, with an TX-based office option.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of public accounting experience.
• CPA or EA preferred.
• Strong tax compliance and advisory experience.
• Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with confidential client information.

Responsibilities

• Review tax returns for individuals, trusts, corporations, partnerships, and nonprofits.
• Mentor Senior and Staff Accountants and offshore staff.
• Oversee revenue and profitability of the client portfolio.
• Conduct advanced tax research and provide strategic tax advice.
• Collaborate with clients, attorneys, financial advisors, and internal tax teams.
• Participate in new client consultations and onboarding.
• Assist with IRS and state tax notice responses.
• Lead weekly accountability and project review meetings.

A growing and established CPA firm in Austin, TX is looking to add an experienced Tax Manager to its team.

This is a great opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys client advisory work, technical tax research, team leadership, and having a direct impact on client relationships.

What You’ll Do

• Review individual, trust, corporate, partnership, and nonprofit tax returns
• Manage and mentor Senior Accountants, Staff Accountants, and offshore accounting staff
• Oversee the revenue and profitability of an assigned client portfolio
• Conduct advanced tax research and provide strategic tax advice
• Work directly with clients, attorneys, financial advisors, and internal tax teams
• Participate in new client consultations and onboarding
• Assist with IRS and state tax notice responses
• Lead weekly accountability and project review meetings
