The Opportunity

The firm is seeking a Private Equity Tax Manager to join its growing tax practice. This role will focus primarily on tax compliance, with additional exposure to tax planning and advisory services for private equity, investment fund, and alternative investment clients.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with private equity clients, partnership taxation, and complex investment fund structures. This is an opportunity to work directly with sophisticated investment professionals while taking ownership of client engagements, providing technical guidance, and developing junior team members.

The position offers a flexible work environment, with a preference for candidates located on the East Coast and the ability to travel periodically as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage tax compliance and advisory engagements for private equity, investment fund, and alternative investment clients
  • Review federal, state, and local tax returns for partnerships, private equity funds, management companies, and related investment entities
  • Review partnership allocations, Schedule K-1s, and supporting tax workpapers
  • Analyze complex partnership structures, investment transactions, and other private equity-related tax matters
  • Advise clients on tax planning opportunities and provide practical solutions to complex partnership tax issues
  • Research and resolve technical federal and state tax matters affecting private equity funds and their investments
  • Coordinate with clients, fund administrators, investment teams, portfolio companies, and other external service providers
  • Manage engagement timelines, deliverables, budgets, and multiple concurrent client assignments
  • Review work prepared by junior tax professionals and provide technical guidance to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Mentor and develop staff while supporting overall engagement quality and team performance
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and evaluate their impact on private equity and alternative investment clients
  • Communicate with taxing authorities and assist with tax notices, examinations, and other regulatory matters as needed
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and serve as a trusted tax advisor
  • Assist senior leadership with client relationship management, business development, and practice growth initiatives
