Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown is seeking a Tax Manager based in Red Bank, NJ. You will lead all aspects of tax engagements, supervise staff, and build strong client relationships in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting, CPA (or JD/Tax MS), and at least 5 years in a public accounting tax department. Expect to mentor teams, perform complex tax work, and deliver value across diverse clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• CPA license, JD or Masters of Science in Taxation is required.
• At least 5 years of prior experience in a public accounting tax department, with experience leading engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing individual, trust, partnership and corporate tax returns prepared by staff and seniors.
• Researching and drafting memoranda involving complex tax matters.
• Identifying and implementing tax planning opportunities.
• Handling and resolving tax controversies.
• Overseeing complete tax research projects for a variety of clients and industries.
• Managing multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to meet deadlines.
• Providing counsel during evaluations and professional development programs.
