Anchor Talent & Consulting has been exclusively retained by a boutique CPA and consulting firm in Austin, Texas, to recruit a Tax Manager to join its growing team.
The firm specializes in advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, entrepreneurs, executives, and closely held businesses. Its services encompass sophisticated income tax planning and compliance, estate and gift tax planning, business advisory, and wealth preservation.
This opportunity is particularly well-suited for an emerging Tax Manager who has developed a strong foundation in public accounting and complex individual and partnership taxation and is ready to expand their expertise working directly with experienced partners.
Unlike larger firms where professionals may become narrowly focused on specific accounts or functions, this role provides exposure to sophisticated client portfolios, complex financial structures, and hands‑on mentorship within a close‑knit team of approximately 20 professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Review complex federal and state individual and partnership tax returns, primarily Forms 1040 and 1065, for high-net-worth individuals, families, and closely held businesses.
- Work with multi‑unit family structures, including partnerships, LLCs, investment holdings, venture capital investments, hedge funds, and real estate interests.
- Analyze Schedule K‑1 and K‑3 reporting and understand how partnership‑level transactions, income, deductions, and other tax attributes flow through to individual returns.
- Research complex tax matters, identify potential reporting issues, and develop recommendations in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Assist with income tax planning, compliance, and advisory services involving sophisticated investment and business structures, including foreign reporting considerations.
- Coordinate tax engagements, review work prepared by staff, monitor deadlines, and ensure accurate, timely deliverables.
- Collaborate with partners and clients to resolve reporting questions, obtain necessary documentation, and maintain strong working relationships.
- Support the professional development of junior staff while continuing to expand your own technical expertise.
Qualifications
- Active CPA certification required.
- Approximately 1–2 years of Tax Manager experience preferred; high‑performing Senior Tax Associates ready for advancement may also be considered.
- Strong public accounting background with meaningful exposure to high-net-worth individual and partnership taxation.
- Experience reviewing complex Forms 1040 and 1065, including Schedule K‑1 reporting.
- Working knowledge of pass‑through entities and how partnership tax information impacts individual income tax reporting.
- Exposure to sophisticated investments, multi‑entity structures, Schedule K‑3, or foreign reporting is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills, technical judgment, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and communicate effectively with partners, colleagues, and clients.
- Experience with CCH Axcess, CCH Engagement, and QuickBooks preferred.
