Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • CPA certification required.
  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience required.
  • Strong tax compliance and planning experience with the ability to review complex tax returns and provide client guidance.
  • Experience with financial statement compilations and reviews strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising, reviewing, or managing the work of accounting staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters in a clear and approachable manner.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and develop team members.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple client engagements and deadlines.
  • Proactive, service-oriented professional with strong judgment and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of tax engagements, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and within established deadlines.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, developing strong relationships and gaining an understanding of their businesses and financial needs.
  • Review federal and state income tax returns for businesses and individuals while providing guidance on complex tax matters.
  • Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services to help clients identify opportunities and navigate changing tax requirements.
  • Coordinate engagement workflows, establish priorities, and ensure appropriate allocation of work across the team.
  • Review work prepared by staff and provide technical guidance, coaching, and feedback.
  • Mentor and develop accounting professionals while supporting their continued technical and professional growth.
  • Assist clients with tax notices, inquiries, and other compliance-related matters.
  • Support accounting and financial statement engagements, including compilations and reviews, as needed.
  • Research technical tax and accounting issues and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to clients and internal teams.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client relationships by understanding broader business needs and providing relevant solutions.
  • Maintain awareness of changes in tax laws, regulations, and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with partners and other firm leaders on client service, staff development, and practice initiatives.
  • Balance multiple engagements and competing priorities while maintaining a high level of responsiveness and client service.

Our client is an organization in the Waukesha area looking for a Tax Manager. Our client is looking for an experienced public accounting professional with strong technical tax knowledge, proven leadership abilities, and a client-focused approach. This individual will oversee a portfolio of client engagements while developing trusted relationships, mentoring staff, and ensuring high-quality tax and accounting services.

The Tax Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Tax Manager will possess the following:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.
  • CPA certification required.
  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience required.
