Job summary

RMW Rockport, a growing tax practice within RMW Accounting, seeks a Tax Manager to oversee delivery of accurate U.S. and multi-state tax compliance and advisory services.

You will guide staff, review complex returns, conduct tax research, and develop proactive planning with clients, while partnering with office leaders to drive revenue and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• CPA or EA certification preferred.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and tax software.
• Experience with U.S. and multi-state tax compliance.
• Excellent interpersonal and client-service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client projects and deadlines.
• Desire to expand tax knowledge and advisory scope.

Responsibilities

• Review U.S. and multi-state returns for entities (C/S-Corps, partnerships, fiduciaries).
• Review individual income tax returns and state returns.
• Prepare tax projections for individuals and companies.
• Conduct tax research as needed.
• Communicate with clients and colleagues on tax matters.
• Engage in consulting and special tax projects as requested.

The Tax Manager is a key leader who elevates the quality, efficiency, and sophistication of our tax practice by overseeing the delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful tax compliance and advisory services.

This role blends deep technical tax expertise with strong leadership, project management, and client-service acumen. The Tax Manager plays a pivotal role in guiding staff, reviewing complex individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary returns, and ensuring that engagements are executed with precision and efficiency. The Tax Manager partners closely with office leaders and team members to drive revenue and strengthen client relationships by providing high‑value planning, proactive communication, and strategic tax insights.

The Tax Manager is a subject matter expert who understands how a high‑performing tax department should operate, leveraging strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and effective processes to support the firm’s broader goals.

Responsibilities:

• Review U.S. and multi-state income tax returns for business entities, including C‐corporations, S-Corporations, partnerships, and fiduciary returns.
  
• Review U.S. and state individual income and gift tax returns.
  
• Prepare tax projections for individual and corporate clients.
  
• Conduct tax research as needed.
  
• Communicate with existing clients and colleagues regarding various tax matters.
  
• Engage in consulting and special projects as requested by clients.
  

Requirements:

• 7 or more years of relevant tax experience preferred.
  
• CPA or EA preferred
  
• Ability to work well independently and with a team.
  
• Advanced computer skills on Microsoft platforms. UltraTax tax software and Practice CS are used but not required.
  
• Proficient with QuickBooks, and trial balance software.
  
• Strong interpersonal skills.
  
• Ability to meet deadlines while handling multiple client projects in a fast‑paced environment.
  
• Desire to expand current knowledge base.
