You will work directly with other members of our team and clients, building a relationship as a trusted tax specialist, advisor, and leader. You will collaborate daily, developing solutions to complex tax issues through research, use of cutting-edge technology, and consultation with other team members.

What the job entails:

• Final reviewer of tax returns including individual, entity, gift tax, and non-profit tax returns - e.g., forms 1040, 1065, 1041, CA565/8,571L, 5227, and foreign filings
• Sign tax returns to demonstrate full responsibility and authority of tax returns
• Research technical tax matters and draft memoranda to summarize findings and positions taken
• Demonstrate advanced-level skills in utilizing tax preparation software
• Demonstrate technical expertise by interpreting laws, regulations, and standards to develop tax planning and strategy recommendations to clients
• Thoroughly review other projects from Senior Associates and produce partner-ready work products
• Start developing a reputation as an expert or specialist in specified areas
• Serve as trusted client advisor and be able to discuss matters on the client’s behalf to federal and state agencies through Power of Attorney privileges
• Manage day-to-day client relationships and maintain positive client satisfaction
• Provide creative and innovative advice to clients
• Work closely with engagement partner and staff to meet client expectations
• Manage client engagements for profitability and efficiency
• Develop new client contacts and relationships beneficial to the firm
• Role model and mentor to new and existing staff
• Interest in personal career growth and development
• Manages realization/utilization/billable hours rates of Accountants and Senior Accountants

Qualifications:

• 6 years+ experience of public accounting experience, preferably managing direct reports
• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
• CPA or EA required
• Experience with tax technology similar to CCH WK, ProSystem Tax, Engagement, Fixed Asset software is a plus
• Individual, C-Corp, Partnership, and S-Corp tax preparation and review experience preferred
• Multi-state experience is preferred
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Possess a professional demeanor and be a positive thinker
• High level of accuracy and strong quantitative skills, along with the highest level of ethics, honesty, and integrity
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong project management and organization skills and ability to manage competing priorities
• Exhibit professionalism and maintain client confidentiality
• Results driven, self-starter who likes to take on new challenges
• Ability to work effectively both individually and with a team
• Team management skills including ability to lead, direct and coach
• Ability to build and cultivate strong personal relationships with peers in the firm and business community
• Excellent business skills and industry knowledge

Physical + Work Environment Requirements:

• Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer
• A quiet, undisturbed working space to preserve and maintain client confidentiality
