Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive tax experience.
  • CPA license strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state taxation.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
  • Experience with complex tax planning and research.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and competing deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Experience mentoring, supervising, or reviewing the work of accounting professionals.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation and accounting software.

Responsibilities

  • Manage tax engagements from planning through completion, ensuring work is accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and/or review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and business entities.
  • Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services tailored to individual client circumstances.
  • Research and resolve complex tax issues and communicate recommendations clearly to clients.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients, developing strong and lasting professional relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities while maintaining compliance with applicable tax laws.
  • Oversee tax deadlines, extensions, estimated payments, and other required filings.
  • Respond to IRS and state tax notices and assist with examinations and other tax matters.
  • Review work prepared by other members of the tax team and provide guidance to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Mentor and develop staff members, helping strengthen the team's technical capabilities.
  • Stay current on changes to tax legislation, regulations, and industry developments.
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to broader accounting and financial planning discussions.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve tax processes, efficiency, and client service.

Skills

This is an opportunity for a tax professional who wants more than simply preparing returns- you'll serve as a trusted advisor to clients, provide strategic tax guidance, and help lead the firm's tax practice.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, client-focused, and comfortable taking ownership of complex tax engagements. you'll work with a diverse client base and have the opportunity to provide meaningful guidance across tax planning, compliance, and broader financial matters.

What You'll Do
