The Opportunity

We’re hiring for a Tax Manager to sit in our Jericho, NY office. Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

  • Manage client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget
  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assessing performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of accounting rules and regulations and applies technical knowledge in a practical business manner
  • Ensure that assignments are accomplished within the budgeted time
  • Interact with clients to discuss issues with regard to tax information throughout the year
  • Develop technical knowledge through participation in organization meetings, training programs, attending industry events and participation in research activities
  • Demonstrate capacity to administer engagements efficiently and effectively
  • Demonstrate genuine interest in and commitment to our client’s success
  • Identify key client personnel within the organization and begins building a network of relationships
  • Primary point of contact for clients and regularly interfaces with client’s senior management
  • Recognize complex technical issues, uses strategic decision-making skills and reaches appropriate conclusions
  • Be a present and active participant in tax planning projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years’ of progressive tax preparation
  • Must have advanced knowledge in corporate, international, federal and state and local tax, as well as have a solid background in corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, C Corps, partnerships and individual/ trusts
  • Strong tax accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, consolidated federal tax returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns
  • Ability to manage staff on multiple engagements, and possess strong leadership skills
  • Possesses a strong understanding of client’s industry, business, needs and expectations and discusses with clients areas for improvement in business operations
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent is required
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • CPA license is required
  • Proficient with a computer software packages and platforms including Microsoft Office Suite, Tax software, ProSystems and CCH
