Job description

Tax Manager | Tax Planning and Consulting, Grapevine, TX

Hybrid

Up to $160,000 plus 20% bonus

More advising, less just reviewing

Plenty of Tax Manager roles claim to be advisory focused. In practice, the day still gets swallowed by reviews, deadlines, client questions and team fires, while the genuinely interesting planning work stays locked up with the Partners.

This independent CPA firm in Grapevine TX offers something a bit different. You'll still own compliance, but you'll also get looped into client decisions earlier, helping privately owned businesses understand the tax impact of their choices before they've already made them.

That means more planning, more consulting, and more chances to actually use your technical knowledge in conversations that move the needle for the client.

What's different here

You'll work with business owners year round, not just around filing deadlines. You'll help spot planning opportunities, explain the tax side of major decisions, and become the person clients actually call for practical guidance.

You'll also work directly with firm leadership on more complex matters and broader client strategy. The role gives you room to build real relationships and develop the commercial instincts that matter more and more once you're past pure compliance.

Alongside the client side, you'll support junior staff and have a say in how the firm delivers its tax services. Hybrid working is available, built around trust and outcomes rather than a fixed policy.

The role
  • Managing and reviewing federal and state tax work across a varied client portfolio
  • Leading client relationships and providing practical tax advice year round
  • Spotting planning opportunities and contributing to consulting engagements
  • Breaking down complex tax issues so business owners can actually make informed decisions
  • Working closely with firm leadership on complex technical matters and broader client strategy
  • Reviewing junior team members' work and helping build their technical confidence
Who fits

The firm's open to experienced Seniors, Supervisors, and Tax Managers who are ready for this level of responsibility. You should have a solid public accounting tax background and be comfortable working directly with clients.

CPA or EA required.

This is a particularly good fit if you enjoy the technical side but want to put it to use in a more commercial, advisory way. It might also resonate if planning and consulting get talked about a lot at your current firm but rarely land on your desk.

Compensation

Up to $160,000 plus up to a 20% bonus.
