Embark Recruiting Solutions is assisting a growing public accounting firm in finding a Standalone Tax Manager in Columbus, OH. You will lead tax engagements, serve as the primary client contact, and help expand the practice with leadership guidance.

You will mentor staff, stay updated on tax laws, and drive process improvements while delivering exceptional client service and strategic value to the firm.

Our client, a growing public accounting firm, is seeking a Standalone Tax Manager to lead and expand its tax practice. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced tax professional who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is excited to play a key role in building a growing business. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, developing trusted client relationships, and contributing to the strategic direction of a practice—not just preparing returns.

What You'll Do

• Manage a diverse portfolio of individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax engagements from planning through completion.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering exceptional service and proactive tax guidance.
• Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and introduce additional services.
• Collaborate with firm leadership to grow and shape the tax practice.
• Research and resolve complex tax issues while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Review tax returns and provide technical guidance and mentorship as the practice grows.
• Stay current on changing tax laws and communicate their impact to clients.
• Help establish and improve tax processes, workflows, and best practices.

What We're Looking For

• CPA license preferred.
• 5+ years of public accounting tax experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of individual, business, and partnership taxation.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
