Position Overview
A leading crossover investment manager is seeking a Tax Manager to join its finance and tax team.
The firm invests across public and private markets, creating exposure to a broad range of investment structures and tax considerations. This individual will support the tax function across the firm's investment funds and related entities, with exposure to tax compliance, investor reporting, investment activity, structuring, and planning.
Responsibilities
- Support tax matters across the firm's hedge funds, private investment vehicles, SPVs, management company, and related entities
- Coordinate and review federal, state, local, and international tax compliance
- Review partnership tax returns, including Forms 1065 and Schedules K-1
- Manage quarterly estimates, extensions, withholding calculations, and tax payments
- Coordinate investor tax reporting and work closely with external tax advisors
- Partner with fund accounting and finance on taxable income, investment gains/losses, allocations, and capital activity
- Analyze tax implications related to public and private investments, new investments, exits, and restructurings
- Support tax planning for U.S., tax-exempt, and non-U.S. investors
- Assist with investment-related tax matters including UBTI, ECI, PFICs, CFCs, wash sales, straddles, and other securities tax considerations
- Work cross-functionally with investment, legal, operations, accounting, and investor relations teams
- Assist with tax planning initiatives, process improvements, and ad hoc projects
Qualifications
- 4–8 years of relevant tax experience
- Strong background in hedge fund, investment partnership, or alternative investment tax
- Experience with partnership taxation, Forms 1065, and K-1s
- Understanding of investment fund structures and securities-related tax issues
- Background from a Big Four/public accounting firm, hedge fund, or alternative asset manager
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
- CPA and/or MST preferred but not required
