Job summary

NextStep Recruiting has partnered with an established public accounting firm to identify a Tax Manager in Bonham, TX. This role is 100% onsite and will manage a longstanding client portfolio while leading complex tax engagements, planning initiatives, and client advisory work.

This position is ideal for an experienced public accounting professional who combines strong technical tax knowledge with client relationship skills, team leadership, and a desire to help grow an established practice.

Qualifications

• CPA license is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
• Several years of progressive public accounting tax experience are required.
• Strong experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
• Demonstrated tax planning expertise with advisory capabilities and client guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex tax engagements for a diverse client portfolio.
• Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services.
• Supervise tax staff, monitor progress, and meet deadlines.
• Develop strong client relationships and identify advisory opportunities.

Required:

• Active CPA license and bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Several recent years of progressive public accounting tax experience
• Strong experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns
• Demonstrated tax planning expertise with the ability to advise clients on complex tax matters and business decisions
• Experience managing multiple engagements, client relationships, deadlines, and tax staff

Preferred:

• Experience serving closely held businesses, nonprofit organizations, or a diverse client portfolio
• Background supervising, mentoring, and reviewing the work of tax professionals
• Experience communicating with taxing authorities and resolving complex tax matters
• Strong proficiency with tax preparation software, accounting systems, and Excel
• Proven ability to strengthen client relationships and identify opportunities for additional advisory services
