KPMG LLP is seeking a Tax Intern for our Global Executive & Private Client Group in Tax. You will help clients analyze tax implications of international assignments and prepare federal and state returns across jurisdictions.

You will assist with setting up operations in new countries, support global mobility programs, and help deliver tax services with AI, Alteryx and Power BI. This internship offers formal training and mentoring.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing degrees in Tax, Accounting, IB, HR, Finance, or related program.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • CPA eligibility requirements or additional academic credits may be needed after internship.
  • Bilingual English and Japanese is a plus.
  • coursework in information systems, software engineering, CS, or data analytics preferred.
  • Ability to analyze basic tax and accounting information.
  • Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility.
  • Excellent communication, time management and leadership skills.
  • Must reside commutable to the office and be able to travel.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship preferred.

KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Intern for our Global Executive & Private Client Group practice in Tax.


Responsibilities


  • Support clients in analyzing tax implications of working internationally and filing income tax returns in multiple jurisdictions, including preparing Federal and State(s) individual income tax returns, analyzing and utilizing foreign tax credits between countries and tax treaties and looking for opportunities to use global tax planning opportunities to minimize overall tax costs

  • Assist corporations with setting up operations in new countries and help to ensure the applicable tax rules are satisfied and the corporations and individual executives are in compliance with the applicable tax and social tax requirements

  • Help clients to determine the compensation packages that could be provided to executives working on an international assignment; assist with setting up and supporting their global payroll process including determining amounts that could be provided to executives in multiple locations while ensuring compliance with the applicable countries laws in the respective locations

  • Provide global coordination/support to KPMGs corporate clients with all aspects of running a global mobility program including implementing processes and technologies related to efficiently managing their global workforce

  • Assist Associates and Senior Associates with engagement administration and scoping efforts

  • Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more


Qualifications


  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors: Bachelors and/or Masters with concentration in Tax, Accounting, International Business, Human Resources, Finance, or equivalent program

  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above

  • Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Japanese with ability to use both Japanese and English language skills in a business environment a plus

  • Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science or data and analytics preferred

  • Able to analyze basic tax and accounting information

  • Strong in technical, business acumen, critical thinking and agility skills. Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach, in a dynamic, evolving environment

  • Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx and Power BI, MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights

  • Excellent communication, time management and leadership skills, feedback oriented, and resourceful in delivering high quality work

  • Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation, such as a personal vehicle or public transportation

  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future is preferred
