Job summary

BPM LLP invites applicants for a Tax Intern position in the San Jose area. You will join a team of tax professionals, gaining exposure to industries such as Blockchain, Financial Services, Real Estate, and Nonprofit while working with a Coach and Buddy to grow in Public Accounting.

You will build tax knowledge, pursue CPA licensure, and participate in intern events and projects, supported by BPM's collaborative culture and flexible learning environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum GPA of 3.0 in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics (BS/BA/MSA/MST/Certificate Program) and graduating between 2026 - 2029.
• Demonstrated interest in pursuing CPA licensure
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to start January 7, 2027 and work part time in BPM offices: Irvine, Las Vegas, Long Beach, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Monica, Santa Rosa, or Walnut Creek
• Availability to work at least 30 hours/week from February–April

Responsibilities

• Apply critical analysis to data, preparing meticulous work papers and tax returns in accordance with professional standards for diverse entities and individuals
• Demonstrate proficiency in identifying, researching, and evaluating complex tax issues while providing informative insights to seniors and managers
• Possess and regularly update knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including IRS guidelines, court precedents, and other regulatory bodies' requirements
• Develop skills in tax through training programs, staying up to date with changes in accounting and tax standards, and pursuing CPA designation
• Engage in regional intern events, sessions with firm partners, and collaborate with interns on a project showcasing acquired knowledge
• Support sustainable workplace practices by promoting paperless workflows and BPM values
• January: 20 hours/week; February–April: 30 hours/week
