Job summary

HBK CPA is offering an internship for sophomore or junior accounting students in Florida. The program provides hands-on training in federal and state tax preparation, plus exposure to HBK software and a week-long 1040 Tax Training Program.

Interns will work closely with team members at all levels and gain practical experience preparing tax returns for individuals and corporations. Qualified candidates are pursuing accounting majors, ideally with a 3.0+ GPA, and may be actively pursuing the CPA

Qualifications

• Sophomore or junior accounting student.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred; leadership and campus involvement valued.
• Pursuing CPA designation or interest in pursuing it.
• Excellent computer, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
• Background check required.

DESCRIPTION:

• Receiving training on federal and state tax preparation, tax research, tax laws, and HBK software
• Attending a week-long 1040 Tax Training Program
• Contributing to the firm by providing timely and high-quality work products
• Working closely with team members across all levels of the organization and performing many of the same responsibilities as a first-year associate
• Gaining hands on training on how to prepare tax returns (individual and corporate)
• Gaining a better understanding of how public accounting firms operate.
• Strengthening communication, analytical, and professional skills through hands-on experience
• Gaining insight into what it takes to build a successful career in the public accounting industry

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Sophomore or junior candidate pursuing a major in accounting
• Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; leadership experience, campus involvement, and relevant work experience are also highly valued.
• Actively pursuing or interest in pursuing the CPA designation
• Must possess excellent computer, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Must pass an employment background check

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

• Internships may be full-time or part-time depending on the time of year and office requirements. For spring busy season internships, candidates must have the ability to work at least 24 hours per week in-office during the program. Before applying, please ensure you can commit to a minimum of 24 hours in-office per week throughout the duration of the program. Our spring internships run January through April.
• High-performing interns may be considered for future internship opportunities and full-time employment upon graduation.
