Hill, Barth & King LLC (HBK) invites you to join our internship program for a hands-on experience in public accounting and tax. You will gain exposure to federal/state tax work, tax research, and HBK software while contributing high-quality work within a collaborative team.

Open to sophomore or junior accounting students with a 3.0+ GPA, pursuing the CPA designation. Internships may be full-time or part-time, with spring schedules requiring at least 24 hours per week in-office.

DESCRIPTION: At HBK, the firm's internship program is designed to provide a valuable and challenging "hands-on" learning experience, to develop an understanding of the firm, the public accounting profession and to enhance the intern's formal education.

You will accomplish this by:

• Receiving training on federal and state tax preparation, tax research, tax laws, and HBK software
• Attending a week-long 1040 Tax Training Program
• Contributing to the firm by providing timely and high-quality work products
• Working closely with team members across all levels of the organization and performing many of the same responsibilities as a first-year associate
• Gaining hands on training on how to prepare tax returns (individual and corporate)
• Gaining a better understanding of how public accounting firms operate.
• Strengthening communication, analytical, and professional skills through hands-on experience
• Gaining insight into what it takes to build a successful career in the public accounting industry

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Sophomore or junior candidate pursuing a major in accounting. Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; leadership experience, campus involvement, and relevant work experience are also highly valued. Actively pursuing or interest in pursuing the CPA designation. Must possess excellent computer, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Must pass an employment background check.

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Internships may be full-time or part-time depending on the time of year and office requirements. For spring busy season internships, candidates must have the ability to work at least 24 hours per week in-office during the program. Our spring internships run January through April. High-performing interns may be considered for future internship opportunities and full-time employment upon graduation.
