Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Revenue Research Analyst 3 to support data-driven public service improvements within the Department of Revenue. You will collect and analyze tax information, develop dashboards, and produce reports to guide decision-makers.

Responsibilities include verifying tax calculations, sampling transactions for reviews, and providing operational backup for IT tasks. Telework may be available part-time with conditions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum experience as described in Pennsylvania Department of Revenue postings.
  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze information for tax-related decisions.
  • Familiarity with data reporting and dashboard development is preferred.
  • Proficiency with quantitative methods and able to interpret results.

Responsibilities

  • Data Collection: Locate, gather, and organize information through interviews, research, and analytical methods
  • Tax Review: Examine sales and use tax schedules for errors and verify accuracy of tax calculations
  • Dashboard Support: Develop and maintain management dashboards using tools such as SQL, DAX, Power Query, and PowerBI
  • Sample Selection: Select random samples of tax transactions for use in appeal reviews and proof-of-payment checks
  • Report Production: Prepare specialized reports and analyses on issues such as sustain rates, compromises, and fiscal impacts
  • Operational Backup: Assist technology and operations units with supervisory support and minor programming tasks
